Bright lights, burly cases, fail-safe on/off switches, virtual indestructibility: there are good reasons to rave about Mag Instrument flashlights. Powered by 4 D-cell batteries, the bright, powerful light adjusts from spot to flood simply by rotating the head. The light is housed in a case made of high-strength aluminum alloy that has been anodized inside and out. This, along with high-quality O-rings at both openings, give you water- and shock-resistance in a lightweight package. Maglite's switches are rubber-coated, weather-protected, and self-cleaning-they're virtually indestructible. In short, this flashlight is almost indestructible-a good quality when it comes to the tools re rely on to help you find your way in the dark. Limited lifetime warranty. Requires 4 D-cell batteries (not included). Includes spare bulb (stored in the end-cap). If you don't think you'll need the extra run time the 4 D-cells give you, see Mag Instrument products #S2D016 and #S3D016.--Josh Dettweiler What's in the Box Flashlight, spare bulb

What Customers Say About MAGLITE S4D016 Heavy-Duty 4-D Cell Flashlight, Black:

This has a nice beam almost like a light saber if you adjust it to a beam, in the dark, it's light weight easy to grip I was intending to order a 3 D cell light, but this makes a good sustitute I have a 4 cell D the 4 D is a bit big for walking the dog, the 4 D cell kind of looks like a weapon at night, even though this was my mistake looking at too many flashlights and accidently, ordering this one instead of a 3 D Cell this is actually a better fit for task of walking the dog, I r happy my dog R happy we r all happy , now if I ever need a weapon walking the dog I might rethink this
If anyone has every owned a maglight they know that they are hard to beat. As is always the case, this Maglite is sturdy, heavy and produces excellent light.
It's great having a flashlight of this quality and Made in the USA that you know will be there and work when you need it.
Very good flashlight. Not much too say, but I can even see who's flying up in the sky at night.
The larger Maglites also ace many very expensive flashlights on battery life; twelve or more sustained hours is not uncommon with garden variety alkaline cells, which are always much less expensive than even low-cost lithium batteries. Maglite's Xenon Replacement Lamp offers a more focused beam, making it perfect for any application where you want to put light somewhere while minimizing stray light (which just blinds anyone standing next to you). "That's one serious flashlight." I often hear from others whenever I wheel this guy out. This flashlight is really quite a value.I use this flashlight for spotlighting owls and other wildlife for census purposes. Most people, however, will find the stock bulb more practical for most uses, which casts a wider and (to my eyes) brighter beam.OTHER NOTES: Liberally lubing all threads with petroleum jelly will smooth out the action and save some wear and tear, particularly when changing batteries. And it is indeed a big flashlight. However, I'm simply unable to find a smaller, better-constructed light for less than $30 that is anywhere near as bright as 4/5/6 D cell Maglites.
